|
|
For the Sunday of All Saints, which falls this year on Sunday, June 3rd, the Typicon prescribes the following with regard to the Prokeimena at the Divine Liturgy:
1st Prokeimenon:
Resurrection Tone 8 (“Make vows to the Lord your God, and fulfill them”)
...immediately followed by its Verse (“God is known in Judah; in Israel, his name is great”), and then...
2nd Prokeimenon:
Prokeimenon of All Saints, Tone 4 (“God is wondrous in His saints, the God of Israel.”)
On pages 212-213 of the Divine Liturgies Book, while the red heading references the correct 1st Prokeimenon (per the Typicon), the music and text that appears immediately below it is not correct.
If one were to sing the Prokeimena as given in the book, the Prokeimenon of All Saints would be sung twice, separated by the versicle appointed for the Prokeimenon for Resurrection Tone 8.
Two Questions:
1. Has anyone noticed similar errors elsewhere in the book?
2. In your parish, how do you plan to handle this type of situation?
Thanks,

The text are music are the same as for an ordinary Sunday in Week 8, so one could simply sing the first prokeimenon from the Sunday octoechos; since it is not repeated, I doubt it would be that big a hardship.
I have found only two typos otherwise in the People's Book, and one of those is an incorrect chapter number in a Scriptural reference, rather than text or music.
