Resources for students
The Metropolitan Cantor Institute program is designed to help singers become proficient cantors in the Byzantine Catholic Church. This page explains what you need to bring to this four year program.
The most important thing to bring is yourself. Please plan to arrive on time, and stay till the end of the class day if at all possible. We do understand that everyone has obligations, but we will try very hard to schedule around any known obstacles (such as days on which cantors usually have to be in church.
In each of the four years of the program, you will certain books and materials. The following links explain what is needed for each year, and also provide links to online resources.
- Resources for Year 1 - The Divine Liturgy
- Resources for Year A - The Services of the Menaion
- Resources for Year B - The Services of the Triodion and Pentecostation
- Resources for Year C - The Services of the Trebnyk
For all classes, you should bring writing instruments and paper of your choice; a three-ring binder may also be helpful.
Do I need access to the Internet?
In a word, NO. But if you do have access to this website on a regular basis, you can use it to review lessions, and learn more about our liturgy and chant.
