At Vespers

music (samohlasen)

There are six stichera at "O Lord, I have cried": three for the the feast, and three for the martyrs.

Tone 4, special melody Dal jesi znamenie.  The all-holy Cross, the invincible victory, is revealed today * as it comes forth from the ground. * As a hidden treasure it enriches the whole world * by the radiance of its universal goodness. * Therefore, we honor the Cross * on which Christ our God deigned to be crucified.

Moses, the mediator and honored prophet of God, * prefigured the Cross and defeated the enemy. * Now the Cross is shown by the raising up of the palms of the priest. * The demons and the assemblies of the unjust are scattered; * the foolish acts of the godless are reproved.

O Savior, your Cross is an invincible might for us Christians. * O Christ, the alien multitudes of nations were defeated through it. * You granted peace to your Church * and to those who worshiped in faith. * As we now kiss the Cross, O Lover of us all, * we entreat You to make us worthy to be with your saints.

Tone 8. O martyr Trophimus, * you yearned to possess the everlasting nourishment. * You nourished yourself by bodily pains. * You have passed from corruption to incorruption. * Now you rejoice, having been blessed by your witness. * O blessed one, by your prayers, * obtain great mercy for all of us.

The glorious Sabbatius suffered tortures * and now is worthy to celebrate joyfully in the heavenly courts. * He has been honored for his deeds * and is numbered among the hosts of angels. * O Christ, through his prayers, * grant great mercy to your people.

O Dorymedont, having confounded the plots of the godless, * you made your mind firm by divine counsels. * You courageously stepped forward to the torturous trials * and received the honors of victory. * Now that you reign with Christ, pray for all of us.

Glory, now and ever – Tone 4.  Let us raise our voices today and sing in honor of this feast, * and with radiant faces let us cry out in a loud voice: * For us You accepted condemnation, O Christ; * You were spat upon and scourged; * You were wrapped in a purple robe and have ascended the Cross. * Seeing You, the sun and moon hid their light, * the earth quaked in fear, and the veil of the temple was torn in two. * Now give us your precious Cross as our guardian, * our protector which drives away the demons, * that embracing it, we may all cry out: * Save us, O Cross, by your might, * and strengthen us through your exaltation, * for you have been given to us as the light and salvation of our souls.

The aposticha are for post-feast:

Tone 1, special melody Nebesnych činov.  The Cross is raised and the demons are scattered. * The thief of Paradise opens up the gates. * Now Death is put to death and deprived of its evil. * Christ is glorified, all creation rejoices, and the curse is destroyed.

Exalt the Lord, our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.

Come, all you lovers of good! * See the precious Cross being raised up. * Together let us exalt and give glory * to the one Deliverer and God by calling out: * Having been crucified on the Tree of the Cross, * do not despise us who pray to You.

God is our king from all ages. He has accomplished salvation in the middle of the earth.

Of old, Moses made the bitter water sweet. * He delivered Israel by assuming the likeness of the Cross. * Let all of us faithful * divinely and mystically form a likeness of it in our hearts, * for we are being saved by your might.

Glory, now and ever – Tone 5.  The word of your prophets Isaiah and of David is now fulfilled, * for they spoke of You, O Lord, and said: * All the nations shall come to You and bow before You. * Behold the people who are now filled with your grace * in your sanctuary in the temple of Jerusalem. * O God of goodness who suffered on the Cross for us * and gives us life through your holy resurrection, * protect us with your care, O Lord, and save us.

The troparia:

Troparion of the martyrs, Tone 8. God is praised in the Holy Trinity, * and He praises the three martyrs: Trophimus, Sabbatius, and Dorymedont. * By their faith, they conquered the enemy. * By their prayers, have mercy on us, O Christ our God.

Glory, now and ever – Troparion of the Cross, Tone 1.  Save your people, O Lord, and bless your inheritance. * Grant victory to your Church over evil, * and protect your people by your cross.
